GIS (Geographic Information System)

A geographic information system (GIS), captures, stores, analyzes, manages, and displays data that is spatially referenced. The user interacts with a GIS through information presented on maps, floor plans, satellite images, etc. instead of lists.

The forerunner of the BeanCounter GIS dates back to the early 1990 and the principals have been involved since then. Various versions have been used for network (water, gas, electricity, etc.) analysis, management and modeling.

The BeanCounter GIS

The BeanCounter GIS has an embedded Maintenance and Fixed Asset System. This gives the user direct access to maintenance, repair, warranty, calibration and depreciation information of objects through the geographic interface.

The capability to display objects in size and color as a function of object properties can be used as decision support or alert system. As an example if hazardous material is displayed in size dependent on quantity and in color as function of the poison class, critical areas will be immediately visible on a floor plan. Layman and not just specialists can understand critical information.
